The Rural Youth Cinema project aims to shed a new light on rural youth organisations throughout Europe. As this youth work often goes unnoticed and is sometimes even marginalised within society at large, it is our belief that the various activities of youth work deserve more attention.
In many cases, youngsters think that a rural context equals fewer opportunities. We hope to change this negativity, that we find so much among the young people in our own organisations, and instead highlight and document the various activities and (art) projects.
The project Rural Youth Cinema is therefore developing a qualitative methodology that guides young people in making ethnographic documentaries. The focus is on youth activities that start from ecological and sustainability themes that are urgent in the rural context where the youth work organisations are situated.
